The Steady Steppers

This 2 hour workshop is power-packed with Stepping fundamentals and basics.  Instruction in understanding the beat and count is shown first.  Attendees will be instructed in the explanation and understanding of the lane; alignment and movement in the lane; basic turns; arms and hands placement and connectivity for both the ‘Leader’ and the ‘Follower’.  Basic ‘Flow Patterns’ will also be introduced.   Prerequisites This workshop is designed for the curious, interested and beginner Chicago Stepper.  A minimum of 20 paid in advance attendees is recommended with a recommended fee of $20 in advance/$25 at-the-door.

Techniques & Timing Workshop

This 2 hour workshop focuses on YOU-ONLY drills so that YOU can first gain the efficiency of movement needed to provide clear direction for the ‘leader’ in their lead and to provide a clear reading of the lead for the ‘follower’ in their follow.   Prerequisites This workshop is designed for those individuals that want to improve their lead and follow skills.  A minimum of 20 paid in advance attendees is recommended with a recommended fee of $20 in advance/$25 at-the-door.

Combinations & Trios Workshop

This 2 hour workshop is a blend of combinations in a couples dance and trios in a trios dance.  Attendees will first be introduced to different combinations and then will be shown how these combinations can be incorporated into a trio.   Prerequisites This workshop is designed for the accomplished Chicago Stepper. A minimum of 20 paid in advance attendees is recommended with a recommended fee of $20 in advance/$25 at-the-door.

Comfort On the Dance Floor Workshop

This 2 hour workshop will introduce movements like the Butterfly, the Hammer Lock, the 6-7-8 Turn, the Back Roll, the Neck Wrap, the And-Right, the Roll Out/Roll Back, the Steal/Drop the 7-8, Sensitivity & Touches and fakes.  Dance partners are encouraged and highly recommended but not mandatory.  Couples will be instructed in the execution of these movements and how to dance them on the dance floor, which will give the couples comfort when on the floor.   Prerequisites This workshop is designed for those individuals that have firm basics and are able to dance them on the dance floor.  A minimum of 20 paid in advance attendees is recommended with a recommended fee of $20 in advance/$25 at-the-door.

Spins & Turns Workshop

A 2 hour workshop that focuses on the ‘Leader’ giving a ‘good lead’ and the ‘Follower’ having the ability to ‘read the lead’ when executing spins and turns.  Often time the ‘Follower’ is unsure if she is to travel in her turns or turn in place.  Or does the ‘Leader’ want her to do one turn, two turns or multiple turns.  The ‘Follower’ should never feel like a ‘puppeteer’ is handling her.  Both partners will be given insights and tips that will enhance and strengthen their dance with respect to spins and turns.   Prerequisites This workshop is designed for the accomplished Chicago Stepper. A minimum of 20 paid in advance attendees is recommended with a recommended fee of $20 in advance/$25 at-the-door.

Trios Workshop

One of the fascinating elements of Stepping is Trios.  This 2 hour workshop focuses on the Trio, three (3) individuals e.g. one (1) ‘Leader’ and two (2) ‘Followers’, dancing in harmonious synchronization on the dance floor.  Trio throws an added challenge in that the ‘Leader’ is challenged to not dance with each ‘Follower’ individually back-and-forth but instead all three (3) are continuously being turned and traveled throughout their lanes without incident or interruption in their dance flow.   Prerequisites This workshop is designed for the accomplished Chicago Stepper. A minimum of 20 paid in advance attendees is recommended with a recommended fee of $20 in advance/$25 at-the-door.

Movements and Combinations Workshop

This 2 hour workshop incorporates spins, turns, wraps, back rolls, the butterfly, hammer lock and other complex movements into various and, at time, sophisticated combinations.  This intensity packed workshop instructs controlled, yet deliberate, methods and techniques when executing movements and combinations.   Prerequisites This workshop is designed for the accomplished Chicago Stepper. A minimum of 20 paid in advance attendees is recommended with a recommended fee of $20 in advance/$25 at-the-door.
